After months of speculation, actor and athlete Derek Ramsay finally signs an exclusive contract with GMA Network.

The actor was warmly received by GMA Network Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Felipe L. Gozon, President and Chief Operating Officer Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr., Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Felipe S. Yalong and GMA Senior Vice President for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable.

Also present were Derek's mother Remedios Ramsay, his girlfriend Joanne Villablanca, and his nephew Elian Ramsay Barclay.

The contract signing was held at the GMA Network Center on April 3.

"It's so surreal right now. It's unbelievable. I've been waiting for a long time for this day," says Derek.

"My family was the one who really said, 'You should do this.' I felt so comfortable. Sabi ko perfect fit na talaga 'to. Kailangan kong gawin 'to," he adds.

GMA Network Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Felipe L. Gozon echoes Derek's sentiments.

"Tayo'y nagagalak. Derek is a very welcome addition to our stable of artists. Magaling siyang artista at meron sa siya kaagad na program sa atin. Meron na!" he says.

Projects lined up for Derek include special features across all GMA Network platforms and of course, a teleserye.

"He's going to star in a primetime program--a primetime soap with Andrea Torres," shares GMA Senior Vice President for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable.

"That's going to be very exciting. We just wanted to make sure that everything is ironed out with Derek and that meron na ring project by the time he transfers."
